France does not accept same sex marriages, but does allow for a form of civil partnership between persons of the same or opposite sex called that PACS (pacte civil de solidarité) which allows for sharing of property, social benefits and may also have administrative consequences, giving the PACS partner of a French citizen rights to a spousal/family visa after one year of continued legal residence under the PACS.
