A potential solution exists for an person whose father should have remained a British citizen because of his birth in a former British territory and a grandparent's birth in the UK. The solution requires:
- The applicant born before 1983 in an independent country;
- The applicant’s father born in a former British Territory before its independence;
- The applicant's father has a UK-born grandparent; AND
- The applicant has a maternal grandparent born in the UK.
