Permanent residence in Chile
Five years continuous residence in Chile
To have turned 21 years old or 18 years old if his/her Mother or Father is a Chilean National on a derivative basis.
Being a holder of a Permanent Residence permit, up to date.
Neither conviction nor facing a present trial for a felony or crime.
Being capable of making himself/herself a living.
(Even if all these requirements are properly fulfilled, granting nationality on this basis is a matter of the sole discretion of the President of the Republic, although it must deny the request if the candidate follows a subversive ideology, has an illegal job or one that is against the principles of the Chilean legal system, or if granting him/her Chilean nationality is not convenient for national security).
