United Kingdom - Passport & Nationality - British Citizenship by Triple Descent (Federal Dissolution - PGGF)
This solution arises when a father was born between 01.03.1958 and 31.12.1963 in Northern Rhodesia or Nyasaland during the time when these territories formed part of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland. Those who were Federal Citizens and did NOT become Citizens of Southern Rhodesia upon dissolution of the Federation on 31.12.1963 can, in certain circumstances, pass British citizenship to children born after 01.01.1983 where the families are otherwise connected to the UK through more distant ancestry.
Very broadly, it covers a candidate who meets the following criteria:
- Born anywhere;
- Born after 01.01.1983;
- Has a father born in Northern Rhodesia or Nyasaland (the two areas of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland, but EXCLUDING Southern Rhodesia) between 01.03.1958 and 31.12.1963;
- Has a paternal grandfather (father's father) born OUTSIDE of the UK and any former British territory;
- Has a paternal grandmother (father's mother) born in the UK; AND
- The father of their paternal grandfather was born in the UK or any territory that was a Colony, Protectorate or Protected State as of 01.01.1964.
