An alien is exempted from obligation to obtain a work permit when: * The alien is an owner of a company, institution or organization in the Republic of Lithuania with the nominal value of authorized capital of the company non less then 50 000 (fifty thousands) litas, and his residence in the Republic of Lithuania is necessary to pursue the goals and carry out the activities of the company, institution or organization; * The alien is joint owner establishes a company, institution or organization in the Republic of Lithuania, in which the nominal value of his proportion of the authorized capital held in the enterprise must comprise not less than LTL 50 000, and his residence in the Republic of Lithuania is necessary to pursue the goals and carry out the activities of the company, institution or organization; * The alien as an owner establishes in the Republic of Lithuania a company, institution or organization and is the head of the company, institution or organization established; * The alien is the head of a company, institution or organization and the nominal amount of authorized capital of the company non less then 50 000 (fifty thousands) litas; * The alien comes to the Republic of Lithuania to arrange negotiations regarding the conclusion of a contract or its’ implementation, personnel training, commercial setting – up, installation of the equipment or similar activities for a period not exceeding three months per year; * The alien is working in the foreign company (except for the non-profit organizations) of third country with registered office is in member state of World Trade Organization (WTO) (but not the member state of the European Union), who is member of WTO agreement concerning the trade of services, and as an employee is transferred to the subsidiary, branch or representative office of the above-mentioned company registered in the Republic of Lithuania and providing the similar services. The arriving employee must have 1 year working experience (with employment contract) in foreign company as the head or a specialist, having skills, essential for the activities of the company. His working period on the territory of the Republic of Lithuania should not exceed 3 years. The above mentioned restriction is not applied for the head of a company. * The alien is resident of the country, not the member-state of the European Union, and is legally and permanently working in the company, with registered office in the member state of the European Union, and is transferred by the mentioned company to the Republic of Lithuania for temporary job, obtains certificate of E 101 form “Concerning the applicable law”, issued by the member state of the European Union (except for the Kingdom of Denmark), certificate of E 102 form “Concerning the time of the business trip and the extension of activity of self-employed person” or the certificate issued by the Kingdom of Denmark or the member state of European free trade association, confirming the alien has social insurance; * The alien is willing to work in the Republic of Lithuania in order to implement joint programs of the Lithuanian Government with foreign countries; * The alien is a professional sportsman or coach who has concluded a contract for the activities of sports (Article 35 parts 1-4 of the Law on Physical Culture and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania (“Official Gazette”, 1996, No 9-215, 2008, No47-1752); *The alien comes to Lithuania to carry out scientific research or take up a teaching position at the institutions of science and education, or the institutions of scientific research; * The alien is the member of crew of the ship flying by the international routes with the flag of the Republic of Lithuania; *The alien is a member of the traditional Lithuanian religious association (community) or religious association acknowledged by the state, who has a certificate of mediation issued by the authority of that religious association (community), is a priest of other religious association (community) with the status of a legal person in the Republic of Lithuania, who has a certificate of mediation issued by the authority of that religious association (community) and supported from the funds of the religious community during his stay and religious activities in the Republic of Lithuania (Article 17 of Republic of Lithuania Law on Religious Communities and Associations (“Official Gazette”, 1995, No 89-1985); *The alien is a long term resident of the European Union living and working in the Republic of Lithuania for a period of one year on the basis of a work permit and temporary residence permit and willing to conclude individual employment contract; *The alien is a representative of a foreign charity organization whose propose of residence in the Republic of Lithuania is to provide charity; *The alien is a member of volunteer programs sponsored or encouraged by the European Union or its’ member states. * Citizens of an EU Member State and their family members intending to work in the Republic of Lithuania also shall not be required to obtain a work permit.
