Slovakia - flag Slovakia - Permanent Residency - Permanent Residence Permit

A permanent residence permit shall authorize you to long-term residence in Slovakia and to travel abroad and back.

It is a more stable type of residence, which is granted to foreigners for a longer period than temporary stay permits. Foreigners with permanent residence enjoy the same rights and duties as all citizens of the Slovak republic in most areas of life (e.g. employment, health care, social affairs and etc.).

The Alien Police Department grants, following the first application, a permanent residence permit for the period of five years (hereinafter as the "first permit"). After this period and following a further application, the Alien Police Department shall issue a permanent residence permit for an indefinite period of time (hereinafter as the "next permit").

Permit for the permanent residence on the territory of Slovak republic is granted for the first time for the period of five years.

You must file the application for the first permit in person at the foreign mission abroad or at the Alien Police Department in Slovakia.

The Alien Police Department may grant the first permit to you if you are:

(v) or, in special cases, if it is of the interest to the Slovak Republic.

Note: If a citizen of other member state of European Union or European Economic Area wants to settle in Slovakia for longer than three months, his/her residence is, based on the fulfillment of some criteria, automatically considered as a permanent residence of a first permit.

The application for the next permit shall be submitted at the Alien Police Department in the territory of Slovakia. The Alien Police Department shall issue to you a confirmation on the day of its filing.

WhatPassport.com is a specialist UK Nationality and British Citizenship site offering an online search and assessment. Claims to hold a British Passport can be complex and the site offers a quick, simple search to give you the answers. While many people qualify for the UK Ancestry Visa based on holding a Commonwealth passport with a UK born grandmother or grandfather, we have found that if you have a grandparent born in the UK, or if your mother is British or your father is British, then there are several scenarios where you can claim British Nationality and the right to hold a British Passport. This stems from Britain’s collection of British Colonies, British Protectorates and British Protected States in the middle of last century and the Nationality rules concerning what are now the countries of the Commonwealth.
