A person is of Slovenian descendant up to the fourth generation and lives abroad.

Procedure: extraordinary naturalisation
Conditions:
The applicant demonstrates active association
• with the Republic of Slovenia; or
• active, long-term participation in Slovenian societies, Slovenian language schools and other Slovenian overseas organisations.

It is not sufficient for the applicant to only demonstrate Slovenian descent; active ties with Slovenia and Slovenian organisations abroad must also be proven.

A person is of a Slovenian descendant up to the fourth generation and lives in Slovenia for 1 year before filing the application.
Conditions -the applicant:
• is above 18 years of age;
• has actually lived in Slovenia for 1 year before filing the claim and the stay was uninterrupted (except for short-term visits abroad)
• living in Slovenia was legal and on the basis of a permanent residency permit;
• the person has to be physically present in Slovenia;
• his/her centre of professional, economic, social and other/or interests has to be in Slovenia.
• has the financial means to support themselves and their dependents
• the minimum means to be demonstrated is a monthly income of at least in the amount of minimal wage
has sufficient knowledge of Slovenian for common communication as demonstrated by:
a Slovenian language examination certificate, or
by completing primary school, secondary school or higher education studies, or
is above 65 years of age and has lived in Slovenia for 15 years.
has not been sentenced to an imprisonment of more than 3 months or was not issued with a conditional sentence of an imprisonment of more than 1 year;
there is no prohibition to live in Slovenia;
granting Slovenian citizenship would not present a danger to public order, security or defence of the state;
tax liabilities have been paid; and
gives a statement under oath that they will observe the constitutional democracy.
