United Kingdom - Passport & Nationality - British Citizenship (Birth pre 49 to Eastern European parent)
Where a person was born in Southern Africa (including South Africa, Bechuanaland, Rhodesia and Northern Rhodesia) before 1949 to a parent who migrated there from Eastern Europe (often to escape religious persecution in the decades before the Second World War), it was often the case that this family stopped over in the UK. If the parent registered in the UK, it is possible that rights to British nationality passed on down to their children born in Southern Africa.
