United Kingdom - Passport & Nationality - British Citizenship by Descent (Hong Kong)
A person can be registered as a British citizen where:
- they were born before 4 February 1997; AND
- their father was born in Hong Kong before 1 July 1997.
This solution arises from the father's birth in Hong Kong before the handover to China and the child's birth before a key piece of legislation passed in the months before the handover.
