Brazilian Citizenship by Descent

The children born outside the national territory to a Brazilian father or mother, if either of them is in the service of Brazil is considered a Brazilian citizen.

The children born in a foreign country to a Brazilian father or mother, and neither parents were/are in the service of Brazil, must be registered in the competent Brazilian office abroad, or if they are registered, they need to come to reside in Brazil before reaching their majority. If they have reached their majority, and they are still living abroad they must (in order to conserve it) opt for Brazilian nationality within four years.
